David Beckham launching underwear and fragrance line; Soccer star hope to score big with bodywear
David beckham bodywear. He is hoping for a major fashion score.
The soccer superstar and former Armani underwear model is putting his star power behind his own line of "body wear" and fragrance, according to Woman's Wear Daily.
Beckham and his business partner and "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller want to make sure the star stays in the limelight and rakes in the cash long after his career off the field is over.
Armani's profits skyrocketed while Beckham was spokes model for the brand.
"It proved to me that there is a real market for good-looking, well-made men's bodywear," Beckham said. "The push to do something of my own really came as a result of my collaboration with Armani."
There's no date yet on when the collection will launch.
The fragrance Homme by David Beckham will hit stores in September. It's not the star's first time in the scent market. David Beckham Instinct hit shelves in 2005 and Intimately Beckham, a scent launched with his wife, the former Spice Girl and designer Victoria Beckham in 2006.
"With my team we have spent time working on the fit, the fabric and the style to ensure the product looks and feels the very best and I am hugely proud of the end result," Beckham told WWD. "But I'm not sure my mum will be too happy seeing a billboard image of me in underwear again."
